Abstract

NUNEZ RODRIGUEZ, Martha Lucía; FAJARDO RAMOS, Elizabeth  and  QUIMBAYO DIAZ, José Humberto. The teacher as motivational: perception of students of the faculty of health sciences of the Universidad del Tolima (Colombia). Salud, Barranquilla [online]. 2010, vol.26, n.2, pp.260-268. ISSN 0120-5552.

Objective: To identify the perceptions of students at the faculty of health sciences environment to teacher performance as a motivator. Materials and methods: We conducted a phenomenological research approach, during the academic period B in the year 2009. In whose sample participated voluntarily, (after learning the nature and purpose of the study), three students with high academic achievement and three students with low academic performance. These participants were given a depth interviews individually. Results: There were two central categories that were coded as "motivating teaching action" and "action demotivating teachers". In each included a subcategory among which are: "a motivating teacher is one that manages to be part of our lives" and "he who does not care about students." Conclusion: Students recognize that teachers have implicit exercise attitudes that motivate or discourage them reflected in the students' academic performance. This reflection leads to groups of teachers, to improve the approaches and attitudes that teachers adopt in meetings with students.
