Abstract
MILANES PEREZ, Rosa Isabel; TORRES GUERRERO, Arnulfo and RODRIGUEZ BARRIOS, Jairo Adolfo. Langerhans cell histiocytosis, eosinphilic granuloma of temporal bone in an adolescent: Case report. Salud, Barranquilla [online]. 2013, vol.29, n.3, pp.466-471. ISSN 0120-5552.
Eosinophilic Granuloma is the localized form of Langerhans' cell Histiocytosis. This uncommon condition predominately affects pediatric patients and may mimic a middle ear infection that involves adjacent areas. A 14 year old-girl with focal Langerhans' cell Histiocytosis affecting the temporal bone is presented. An accurate diagnosis was difficult due to the clinical data and pathological studies referred to in this paper. The patient was successfully treated with low dose radiotherapy.
Keywords : histiocytosis; Langerhans-cell; temporal bone; otitis media.
