Abstract

Abstract Objective: To characterize pregnant women in high risk obstetric (ARO) attending an public IPS in the department of Sucre, Colombia (period January, February, and March 2015. Material and methods. Quantitative descriptive. Study The sample (123 pregnant ARO) an instrument developed by the researchers was used; content and construct validity and internal consistency analysis was done using Cronbach’s alpha, Results: the 13.18% of pregnant women were under 18 ; 38.2 % from the capital and 19.5 % of the region of San Jorge ; 66 % said no medical history ; 13.8 % had complications of threatened abortion or preterm labor ; 37 % were nulliparous ; 20.3 % had previous cesarean section ; 22.8 % underwent abortions ; 54.5 % said emotional stress and moodiness ; 82.9 % did not schedule pregnancy ; 24% with 1-year period intergenesic ; 55.3 % ( 68 pregnant ) was between weeks 30 and 40 of gestation at the time to participate in the study. Conclusion: the subregion of the Savannah and St. George were the ones who had higher high-risk pregnant women; within preexisting conditions they were more often anemia and migraines as well as the endocrine and respiratory systems. This research will serve as a reference by providing knowledge regarding the profile of pregnant women at high risk in Sucre for professionals involved in your care to exercise a role that could contribute to the control and prevention of complications in them and the significant reduction in mortality mother.
