The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 has been without a doubt the most important event in global public health in recent decades.

Target:

Associate the clinical-epidemiological characteristics of SARS-Cov-2 during the second epidemiological peak in the city of Santa Marta.

Materials and methods:

Cross-sectional, correlational study developed in 2020. The data was taken from the repository of 1,122 epidemiological files that comprised the second epidemiological peak in the framework of the pandemic in the district of Santa Marta. For analysis of the variables, the statistical program R studio was used, a Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) was used, a normality test with Shapiro-Wilk was carried out to know which test to use to assess correlation between the variables contacts and days.

Results:

634 confirmed cases were identified, 38.8 % of the cases were asymptomatic, the most frequent symptoms found were fever, cough and anosmia. Kidney disease and obesity were the variables associated with intensive care unit management.

Conclusion:

The infection had a greater behavior in the female sex, the most affected age group was between 19 and 39 years old, fever and cough were the most frequent symptoms. No relationship was found between comorbidities and symptoms; a relationship was found between those who required medical management in the intensive care unit and having kidney disease or obesity as underlying conditions.
