Abstract

GARCIA-ZAPATA, Carlos. HÁGALE , CONVERSATIONAL MARKER IN MEDELLÍN'S COLLOQUIAL SPEECH. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2016, n.69, pp.315-338. ISSN 0120-5587.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n69a14.

This study aims at describing the pragmatic functions of the deverbal discourse marker hágale, which is frequent in the colloquial Spanish of Medellín, Colombia. Firstly, the process of grammaticalisation and subjectification of this verb form as a discourse marker will be analysed to determine its pragmatic values, especially as a reactive answer in the initial position of an utterance in a dialogue, or in other positions when it is combined with certain linguistic elements in monologic units. This article aims at reaching conclusions which will allow for a better understanding of this phenomenon in the field of regional Hispanic linguistics.

Keywords : pragmatic analysis; colloquial conversation; grammaticalisation; conversational marker; subjectification..
