Abstract
TRILLOS-AMAYA, María. L2 SPANISH IN A PLURILINGUAL AND MULTICULTURAL CONTEXT ON THE CARIBBEAN REGION. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2018, n.73, pp.72-95. ISSN 0120-5587. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n73a04.
It is a must to develop an efficient L2 Spanish bilingual program if one takes into account that about a million people do not speak this language within the premises of the multilingual Caribbean region. In order to bridge this gap, several native communities have been working on the elaboration of a manual, which reflects the idea of language as a vehicle of interaction rather than an object of study by itself. Congruent with this view, it is of paramount importance to approach the study of this region from a sociolinguistic perspective, focusing on research projects that prevail the use of communicative methodologies. It is also necessary to pay special attention to variables such as learning cycles, contextual immersion, linguistic and communicative competence development, and learners. Likewise, it is urgent to address other aspects like learning contexts, cooperative learning, and evaluation and assessment processes.
Keywords : multilingual profile of the Colombian Caribbean region; social dynamics of bilingualism; bilingualism and interculturality; communicative approach; linguistic and communicative competences.
