Abstract
MARTINEZ SOLIS, María Cristina; GONGORA RODRIGUEZ, Graciela and RENZA COLL, Ana Cristina. AN ASSESSMENT OF CRITICAL READING IN TERTIARY EDUCATION. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2020, n.77, pp.203-234. Epub Oct 27, 2021. ISSN 0120-5587. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n77a09.
The results of the research that evaluates critical reading in the postgraduate students of the Universidad del Valle are presented. A test with four levels of competence is designed and applied: textuality, discursive genres and situational communication, situational enunciation and argumentation, based on the enunciative social dynamics model (Martínez, 2001). A mixed analysis is performed that reveals difficulties and places students in basic and medium performance levels. The results characterize the level of competence according to university colleges and identify the influence of undergraduate schooling in shaping critical thinking in postgraduate students.
Keywords : competence; critical reading; enunciative-social dynamics (ESD); argumentation; postgraduate.
