This work focuses on the analysis of the relationship between lexicon and humour. It is a survey of literature and theoretical nature, by which a hermeneutic study was undertaken, using as a primary source of study the children and youth literature classic: Manolito Gafotas, by Elvira Lindo. The main goal of the study was to identify and to examine some of the linguistic games the author drew on through her main character’s voice as a communicative strategy. This allowed observing her thoughtful and humorous criticism of life and reality.
