Abstract

FOSSILE, Dieysa Kanyela. SOME METAPHORS OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2021, n.79, pp.272-294.  Epub Nov 18, 2022. ISSN 0120-5587.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n79a15.

In this article, nominal metaphors related to COVID-19 are analyzed, referred to as covitáforas-19 (COVID-19 metaphors). This study is bibliographical, descriptive and analytical in nature and its approach is qualitative. The objective is to encourage dialogue between those involved in theoretical information involving interaction theory and the metaphorical descriptions of COVID-19. It was found that interlocutors and readers are able to achieve plausible interpretations of COVID-19 metaphors through the identification, selection, and interaction between the properties relevant to both the topic and the vehicle. The studied metaphors were found to provide coherent information on COVID- 19 and to be able to inspire a variety of sensations in both readers and interlocutors.

Keywords : interaction theory; metaphor; COVID-19: interpretation; sensation.
