Resumen
MONTES RODRIGUEZ, María Emilia. NEGATIVE EXISTENTIAL PREDICATION AND STANDARD NEGATION IN TIKUNA LANGUAGE (YURÍ-TIKUNA). Linguist.lit. [online]. 2022, n.81, pp.126-155. Epub 17-Feb-2023. ISSN 0120-5587. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n81a06.
This article illustrates the typological interest of negative existential predicates in Tikuna language. The etymological link between the negative existential «verb» and the negator (the same nominalized verb) used in declarative, imperative and copulative clauses is very visible. In this way, synchronous facts would be connected with diachronic facts in the line proposed by Croft (1991) on the cycle of negation. Our purpose is, therefore, to describe the global phenomenon of negation including data on standard negation (Payne, 1985; Miestamo, 2017) and to highlight some of its typological peculiarities.
