Abstract
YALTA GONZALEZ, Edgar Mauro and LOVON CUEVA, Marco Antonio. ANTI-MIGRANT POLITICAL DISCOURSE IN PERU: A CASE STUDY OF THE LIMA ELECTIONS (2018) AND PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS (2021). Linguist.lit. [online]. 2023, n.84, pp.103-123. Epub Nov 29, 2023. ISSN 0120-5587. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n83a05.
This paper analyses the anti-immigration political discourse configured through linguistic and rhetorical strategies produced by a candidate for mayor of Lima in 2018 and a candidate for the Peruvian presidency in 2021. Complementarily, we analyse the reaction discourses on social networks, which show the ideological effect. The corpus is composed of oral and written speeches collected from social networks. The article concludes that political populism constructs discourses of exclusion and anti-immigrant hatred with lexical-rhetorical strategies that are legitimized by a part of society that denies diversity and plurality.
