Abstract
GIRALDO GIRALDO, Daniel Alfonso; SANTOS BARBOSA, Dolly and COTRINO BADILLO, Carlos. Predictive control applied to an evaporator mathematical model. Ing. Investig. [online]. 2006, vol.26, n.1, pp.37-44. ISSN 0120-5609.
This paper outlines designing a predictive control model (PCM) applied to a mathematical model of a falling film evaporator with mechanical steam compression like those used in the dairy industry. The controller was designed using the ConnoisseurTM software package and data gathered from the simulation of a non-linear mathematical model. A control law was obtained from minimising a cost function subject to dynamic system constraints, using a quadratic programme (QP) algorithm. A linear programming (LP) algorithm was used for finding a sub-optimal operation point for the process in stationary state.
Keywords : predictive control model; falling film evaporator; cost function; optimal control; linear programming.
