Abstract
JARAMILLO, Andrés Eleázar; PRIETO, Flavio and BOULANGER, Pierre. Inspection of 3D parts: a survey. Ing. Investig. [online]. 2007, vol.27, n.3, pp.118-126. ISSN 0120-5609.
A survey of inspection systems using range images is presented; the review focus especially on papers published from 2000 to 2006. The inspection systems are classified according to the techniques used in the acquisition stage. The specific applications of inspection considered in the mentioned works are described, as well as the most outstanding characteristics of systems developed to date. Tendencies in such developments are identified from these characteristics, such as the search for increased CAD-model based flexibility and the preferential use of active triangulation systems (especially projecting structured light as a light plane and fringes instead of passive systems). The problem of inspecting deformable pieces is then presented, representing an open topic for considering developing future systems. The more relevant works related to this topic are also discussed.
Keywords : inspection; range sensor; 3D images; deformable parts.
