We report the case of a 31 years old female patient without pathological antecedents, with a left atrial mixoma that measured 9 cm x 8 cm. It manifested clinically by sudden cardiac obstructive symptoms and was diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography. Immediate surgery was performed, achieving complete tumor resection. A severe mitral valve insufficiency that required valvuloplasty was evidenced. The patient was discharged on the sixth day after surgery.
