Abstract

MORALES RIVERA, Daniel Alberto  and  ZULUAGA CORRALES, Héctor Fabio. Study of thermal and mechanical properties of foams made by polymer blends of ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and natural rubber (NR). Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2006, n.37, pp.82-92. ISSN 0120-6230.

Some properties of polymeric foams made from ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and natural rubber (NR) were studied. These properties included: thermal behavior (by DSC and TGA), strength resistance, compression set and gel content. Structure - property relationships as a function of the degree of crosslinking and foaming were determined for the different blends, making use of results of previous studies on polyolefinic foams with similar densities.

Keywords : polymer blends; crosslinked foams; thermal properties; mechanical properties.
