Abstract

OSORIO, Juan Carlos  and  MOTOA, Tulio Gerardo. Hierarchical production planning in the flexible job shop. Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2008, n.44, pp.158-171. ISSN 0120-6230.

Production planning and control are complex problems within manufacturing organizations since they consider the assignment of scarce resources to meet customer satisfaction. Therefore, it is important to develop methodologies to achieve this objective. The hierarchical production planning and control is a way to address the problem that can reduce its complexity and reach good solutions in reasonable computational time. In this paper, we present a hierarchical approach to solve the production planning and control problem in a flexible job shop configuration. Although non-optimal, as expected, we obtain good solutions as shown in the validation of the method.

Keywords : Hierarchical planning; production planning; job shop scheduling; flexible job shop.
