Resumen

HENAO GUZMAN, Johny Edwar; GOMEZ BOTERO, Maryory Astrid  y  CALDERON, Jorge Andrés. Electrochemical deposition of Ni-SiC composite coatings and evaluation of anticorrosive behavior. Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2009, n.49, pp.70-80. ISSN 0120-6230.

In the present study the deposition of pure Ni and composites Ni + SiC nanoparticles coatings is reported. The coatings were deposited on the substrate of carbon steel AISI-SAE 1016 through linear polarization on a rotating disk electrode, varying the speed of rotation and the content of SiC particles in the bath. The coatings were obtained from a classical type Watts solution, which added nanoparticles of SiC. The anti-corrosive properties of the coatings were studied using electrochemical and corrosion-erosion tests. The microstructure of the coating was examined by optical microscopy. We found that with increasing numbers of particles in the coating increases the mobility and resistance to corrosion-erosion of the coatings. In the same way the mechanical properties of the coating significantly improve with the increase in the number of particles in the Watts solution and with the increase of stirring solution during the electrodeposition processes.

Palabras clave : Nickel coatings; SiC; composite coatings; electrodeposition; erosion-corrosion.
