Abstract
ESCOBAR, Diana Marcela and JARAMILLO, Carlos. Preparation and evaluation of a bone paste for medical applications. Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2009, n.49, pp.151-159. ISSN 0120-6230.
The osteoinductive and osteoconductive characteristics of a bone paste (composed of calcium phosphate type hydroxyapatite, collagen and bone morphogenetic protein) able induce cell differentiation local bone-forming cells was evaluated in this work. The paste was implanted in a dorsal region level inter scapular of 35 New Zealand white rabbits, which were distributed at 7 assessment panels (7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 and 49 days). Then, implants were removed for histological evaluation by conventional optical microscopy and the different elements tissue characterized. The results were analyzed using the multi-factorial correlation with hierarchical classification, which showed that implants stimulate the induction of bone in ectopic sites, with osteogenesis activity. However, the high amount of lymphocytes and eosinophils evidence inflammatory response around the implant.
