OCHOA, Yasser; ORTEGON, Yamileth e RODRIGUEZ PAEZ, Jorge Enrique. Synthesis of TiO2, anatase phase by the sol-gel method: study of the effect of the presence of AcacH in the system. Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2010, n.52, pp.29-40. ISSN 0120-6230.
Titanium dioxide TiO2 is a sensitive n-semiconductor to the light that absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the UV region, is anfoteric and chemically stable. TiO2, is the most employed photocatalyst and at the moment is used in the process of water purification to degrade organic molecules. In this work, the Sol-Gel method was used to synthesize titanium dioxide, process that yielded amorphous and polycrystalline materials in a simple way. The effect of the presence of acetilacetone as complexing agent and of the thermal treatments on the characteristics of the final product was studied, paying particular attention to the crystalline phase anatase. The ceramic powders obtained were characterized by: infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ray-X diffraction (RDX) and transmition electrony microscopy (TEM). The results indicate that using AcacH nanoparticles (< 20 nm) of TiO2 anatase phase, well crystallized at 450oC can be obtained.
