Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this article is to present of contributions of the solidarity economy to local development in the region north of Antioquia. The methodology used to consist in a mixed perspective: from ethnography is used to interpret and analyze the narrative of the associated persons and regional leaders, and to approach the quantitative it makes records to look the contributions of organizations to the residents and to the local associated persons. The main result suggest that solidarity economy in relation with its principles has contributed, through the cooperatives as very representative to improve the living conditions of residents in many localities, but they are´nt yet formed as an alternative to development, understood this as a concept that links the economic, political, social and cultural aspect.
