Resumen

MUNOZ CARDONA, Ángel Emilio. About the principle of solidarity in latin america identity. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2009, vol.12, n.23, pp.147-160. ISSN 0120-6346.

The objetive of this essay is to encourage reflection about an urgent need for a close solidarity between Latin American countries and Spain, in the search for welfare and decrease of poverty. To understand globalization as a world urgent need for social and political development in the countries, that is, to understand globalization as a strategic opportunity for boosting development possibilities of societies with less developed economies. Globalization is not colonization; on the contrary, it is a synonym of development and civilization. For achieving such a purpose, the author conducts an analytical revision of concepts such as "plaza mayor" globalization, and equality, and relates them with solidarity and identity principle. This allows concluding that rapprochement between Latin American and Spain brings a cultural and historical unifcation: union of brother peoples which can help each other in relation to their political, social, and economic experiences.

Palabras clave : Internacional economic relations; Latin America; globalization; human development; economic sociology.
