Abstract

The article shows how the processes of local development have been articulated since the participation of the local population, and the introduction of innovations in the function of territorial production. The cooperation, the institutional change and a suitable urban system have been key to the appearance of the productive local systems. Through a brief conceptual discussion about different aspects of development, the analysis is made with its main ideas based on the analysis of cases in Europe, as it is also with the politics implemented for obtaining the competitive advantage reached in the paradigm of globalization, with different luck, according to the capabilities of adaption of each territory. The conclusions show how the competitive advantage reached should stimulate itself with constant local adaptation in competition with other territorial areas.
