Abstract

RENDON ACEVEDO, Jaime Alberto. Industrialization and especial dynamics in Bogota: the urgencies of territory management. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2009, vol.12, n.spe24, pp.93-112. ISSN 0120-6346.

The structural and institutional reforms that have been adapted to the country, especially in Bogota in order to reach the productivity and competitive world standards, have evolved in a high concentration of the productive activities in the capital city, despite the fact that it was form ports and borders form which more dynamism was expected. Never the less a loss in the relative and absolute dynamism in the manufacturing industry has been seen in Bogota as well as in the traditional industrial centers. This has implied maintaining the cities as attraction poles that require a space reconfiguration, including physical urban integration processes. It has become a priority for the cities, to think their territory, its regional dimension, and reach an agreement in a reindustrialization process that leads to the answer of the county's and region's needs. This article first presents a theoretical debate about the importance of space and territory as necessary elements for the strategy design for the future. Afterwards the case of Bogota´s behavior and its space tendencies in the manufacturing industry are analyzed. Finally the conclusions of the paper are presented.

Keywords : Bogota; territory; industry; local development; metropolis.
