Abstract

Colombian societies present bigger consolidation problems in the first years of its creation. This paper analyses the vital horizon of companies during the 1999-2004 period. The survival probability and the risk levels of the Colombian societies are calculated parting from a duration model estimation. Life cycle, market concentration and the industry's technological regime as survival scenarios for new societies are particularly analyzed. It was found that Colombian societies faced greater barriers during the 1994-2004 period when the sector chosen for operation was already in a mature state of its life cycle.
