MAYA, Guillermo. ECONOMICS: IMPERIALISTIC SCIENCE. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.33, pp.207-236. ISSN 0120-6346.
The economy has been dominated by the neoclassical orthodoxy since the XIX century, imposing its premises, its methods and orientations. The criticism made by John Keynes, in the decade of the 30s, was one of the greatest challenges that orthodoxy faced, based on full employment and money neutrality, and that Keynes successfully criticized. Nevertheless, Keynes criticism meant a temporal deviation that despite its importance then and even now, was assimilated by orthodox theory that keeps as main fundamentals full employment and money neutrality. Orthodox theory also extended its methods and reasoning to other social sciences colonizing them with the maximization principal, process that has been named imperialism. How do economist change theories? In Colombia, even Marxists gave themselves away to neoclassical economy.
Keywords : Orthodoxy; methodological individualism; heterodoxy; Keynesian economy; uncertainty; Marxism; imperialism.
