Abstract

VEGA DE LA CRUZ, Leudis Orlando  and  PEREZ PRAVIA, Milagros Caridad. Identification of Risks for the Supply Chain Through the 5x5 Technique Applied to the Twisted Tobacco Case. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.57, pp.58-75.  Epub Jan 19, 2022. ISSN 0120-6346.  https://doi.org/10.22395/seec.v24n57a3.

One of the challenges for the enterprises of the future is achieving the trustworthiness of its entire supply chain. For this, they need to achieve an efficient security over their chains. In this context, risk management is a fundamental pillar in which the identification of risks is the foundation for its management. This article’s objective is identifying the risks in the supply chain. For that, the study designed a procedure under the 5x5 technique approach, which is nothing different than the application of five steps with five elements each that allow to diagnose, represent, determine, and classify the risks of a supply chain. This procedure is applied to a twisted tobacco supply chain: i) the factors of its context are analyzed, ii) the twisted tobacco process is designed, iii) the elements of the supplierinput- process-output-client diagram, iv) the main failures of the process are identified through the five whys and v) they are classified according to the security management and the five logistic flows. This allows that the supply chain of twisted tobacco lays the foundations for effectively managing its security through the identification of the risks and the reassuring of the chain through its improvement.
