Abstract

CORREA CORREA, Zamanda; DELGADO HURTADO, Carolina  and  CONDE CARDONA, Yenni Angélica. Entrepreneurial formation of Business Administration students of a Public Institution in Popayan, Colombia. Rev. esc.adm.neg [online]. 2011, n.71, pp.40-51. ISSN 0120-8160.

Ordinarilly, educational institutions consolidate entrepreneurship through the teaching of how to create and manage own business, not educating students in entrepreneurship, since they do not include in their academic programs the development ofiabilities, attributes and competences of a successful entrepreneur. To form entrepreneurs, it is essential to develop attributes, thoughts and behaviors. (Kirby, 2004; OECD, 2002; Sarasvathy 2001; Gibb 2005). This study shows the entrepreneurial competences to develop in Business Administration students from a public institution. It also involves different qualitative and quantitative methodologies, based on a descriptive and an analytical study. For a descriptive study, the description of the main entrepreneurial competences is presented from the perspective of specialized literature, the analysis of data is made based on SSPS 15.0, by term and country, establishing the 20 well known competences: calculated risks (70,3 %), autonomy (59,5 %), and innovation (56,8 %). Marketing, logistics and sense of humor represent the least known competences. For the analytical study, Delphi model was used. Once the answers from experts were recorded to determine the level of correspondence, they permitted to establish the entrepreneurial competences Business Administration students should develop regarding university needs, the generation of favorable environments: autonomy, innovation, problem- solving, network building, self-trust and internal control.

Keywords : Entrepreneurship formation; Competences; Delphi method.
