Abstract

LEYVA-CARRERAS, Alma Brenda; ALCANTARA-CASTELO, Jesús Rodolfo; ESPEJEL-BLANCO, Joel Enrique  and  CORONADO-GARCIA, Manuel Arturo. Formation of the entrepreneurial profile in higher education, Universidad de Sonora, Mexico. Rev. esc.adm.neg [online]. 2019, n.86, pp.115-132. ISSN 0120-8160.  https://doi.org/10.21158/01208160.n86.2019.2293.

This study aims at measuring the relationship among personal skills -self-confidence-, intellectual skills -capacity to identify problems-, and social skills -teamwork- in the development of entrepreneurial capacity, as perceived by Business Administration students in Universidad de Sonora, Mexico. This paper also shows the theoretical framework and methodology used to carry out the investigation, thus describing the process of analysis of the data and the outcomes, conclusions, and some recommendations and social implications.

A mixed methodology was used, in which there was a first stage of piloting exploration to contextualize the existing problem, as well as the validation of the measuring instrument. In a second stage, there was a collection of data through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to Business Administration students of Universidad de Sonora, Hermosillo unit, Sonora, Mexico, and a statistical analysis using PLS-SEM structural equation models.

The main outcomes show that students having entrepreneurial skills are aware of the relevance that personal skills have, thus facilitating the development of effective social skills. These students say that they could learn and improve their intellectual skills during their learning process, and that these abilities are necessary to reach the goal of creating new companies.
