Status epilepticus is a complex clinical entity. Its identification and treatment continues to be a challange due to its high morbidity and mortility rate. Recently there has been advances in the understanding of its physiopa-tology creating the oportunity to make changes in its clasification and treatment. All of this has been posible due to clinical trials and laboratory tests which improve the quality of life of the patients. The purpose of this article is to show a narrative review of the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of this patology.
