The right to development is an inalienable human right whereby all persons are entitled to participate in social, economic, political and cultural development so as to ensure full exercise of their human rights and fundamental freedoms. However, exercise of the right to development is not without certain difficulties. Based on the ideas of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum with respect to the concept of human development and the foundation of a genuine right to development, this paper looks at the question of development from a philosophical perspective in connection with notions of justice and solidarity, both in the area of individual care and in international relations. This subject has been studied since the onset of legal and political philosophy and continues to be the object critical thinking, particularly concerning the implementation of closed schemes of an individualistic and economic nature, which highlight, in turn, the need to return to an open way of contemplating the metaphysics of man.
