Abstract

VALLES SANTILLAN, GABRIELA GUADALUPE. Public Financing for Political Parties in Mexico: Controversial Topics and a Proposed Technological Alternative to Audit It. Díkaion [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.2, pp.282-309. ISSN 0120-8942.  https://doi.org/10.5294/dika.2018.27.2.4.

The article addresses the issue of public financing for the political parties in Mexico. The topic is examined from an analytical perspective that highlights the more controversial issues, both legal and social, in terms of how to determine the amount of economic resources to be dedicated to these actors for this purpose, as well as the efficiency of mechanisms to control those resources and transparency in the way they are spent. These aspects have been criticized at length, even though the last constitutional reform on political-electoral matters redesigned the state of affairs in this regard. In that sense, a possible alternative is proposed based on disruptive block-chain technology that would help to improve the auditing process. The fundamental elements of the proposal are explained with an eye towards developing this strategy extensively and in further research.

Keywords : Blockchain; financing; auditing; political parties; disruptive technology.
