Abstract

CADAVID-SIERRA, Diego Alejandro; FORD-MARTINELLI, Vanessa Louise  and  HERRERA-OROZCO, Lina Marcela. Apicoectomy and connective tissue graft - Surgical approach for the treatment of fenestrations: Case report. CES odontol. [online]. 2012, vol.25, n.2, pp.73-81. ISSN 0120-971X.

Apical fenestrations are a type of defect with the appearance of an osseous window from where dental roots appear. They are considered labial or apical fenestrations when the root apex perforates the mucosa and becomes exposed to the oral cavity. Because of its multifactorial etiology, including trauma from occlusion, thin bone plates and soft tissues, and dental malpositions, studies have been made about treatment protocols in which different techniques have been described. This article describes the management between Periodontics and Endodontics, looking for the reestablishment of periodontal and periapical health of an apical fenestration of a maxillary first right molar.

Keywords : Connective tissue graft; Apicoectomy; Mucosal fenestration; Apical fenestration.
