Abstract
BEJARANO, Mónica. Correlación clínica en enfermedad ulcerosa diagnosticada por endoscopia. Rev Col Gastroenterol [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.4, pp.247-252. ISSN 0120-9957.
A case and control study was done, including 1155 individuals who consulted to the Rafael Uribe Uribe Clinic in Cali,Colombia, because of digestive symptoms and were subject to upper gastrointestinal endoscopies between february and july of 2003. There were 161 cases with diagnosis of peptic ulcer and 994 controls with diagnosis of non ulcer dyspepsia. There was not a good correlation between described symptoms and endoscopic diagnosis of peptic ulcer, obligating to practice upper gastrointestinal endoscopies to every symptomatic patient to investigate the cause of symptoms.
Keywords : peptic ulcer; dyspepsia; symptoms; diagnosis.
