The patient is the main protagonist in the doctor-patient relationship. The informed Consent show the importance of access to information to the patient, transferring known standard procedural or decision-making risk to the patient who has to allow an informed decision, not only for procedures but also for therapeutics decisions. Obtaining informed consent is a process that goes beyond the event / action of obtaining a signature on a standardized form.
