Abstract

FARFAN Q, Yezid Alfonso et al. Coexistence of AIDS and proctitis ulcerative in a colombian patient. Rev Col Gastroenterol [online]. 2006, vol.21, n.2, pp.126-128. ISSN 0120-9957.

Enteric infections caused for opportunist agents, neoplastic disease and intestinal dysfunction, characterize the intestinal involvement of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, antiretroviral therapy prevents the development of severe infections (Cryptosporidium, Cytomegalovirus, Mycobacterium avium intracelulare). These infections may mimic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). There is a paucity of medical literature regarding the presence of HIV infection in patients with IBD, and the effects of one disease process on the other. The objective of this report, is to informer to the medical community the case, because, the EEI should be considered in the evaluation of the patient with HIV infection and bloody diarrhea.

Keywords : Proctitis ulcerative; infection VIH/SIDA.
