Portal hipertensión is the major complication of cirrhosis and is associated with high morbidity and mortality rate. The evidence about the role of the measurement of portal pressure in the management of chronic liver disease is increasing, but it is difficult for costs and application in the practical clinical. In this way, they are some indications and important recommendations for the application.
