Abstract

LOMBO LIEVANO, Bernardo; LOPEZ PANQUEVA, Rocío  and  SIERRA, Fernando. Nodular Transformation of the Liver. Rev Col Gastroenterol [online]. 2007, vol.22, n.1, pp.63-67. ISSN 0120-9957.

Condition characterized by generally small regenerative nodules dispersed throughout the liver, associated with acinar atrophy and variably occluded portal vessels. Occurs in patients of all ages and may be completely asymptomatic. The autopsy incidence varies between 0,1 - 0,34% . It has been associated with a lot of kind of diseases that include persistent ductus venosus hemorrhagic telangiectasia, Felty´s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma. In this article, the epidemiology, histology, differential diagnosis, and theories of etiology of nodular transformation are reviewed. The diagnosis and treatment are also presented.
