Abstract

The ingestion of foreign bodies is not infrequent in the medical habitual practice, the second indication constitutes of urgent endoscopy discharge in children after the digestive haemorrhage and his presence in the digestive tract, is a real emergency that needs a rapid resolution. In the present article one presents a series of 42 paediatric cases attended between October 30, 2005 and December 31, 2007 in Gastro-endoscopia’s unit of the Hospital Cardiovascular del Niño de Cundinamarca to whom I they realize extraction of foreign body, and in whom different variables were evaluated as: personal precedents, time of evolution, age, sex, clinical manifestations, radiological and endoscopics finds, in addition there appears a brief review of the literature and an algorithm of managing for this situation.
