Abstract

MARTINEZ, Javier O  and  SERNA, Francisco J. Identification and geographic localization of the species of the genus Anastrepha Schiner (Diptera: Tephritidae) of Cundinamarca (Colombia). Agron. colomb. [online]. 2005, vol.23, n.1, pp.102-111. ISSN 0120-9965.

The present study included a theoretical review of the morphology and taxonomy of the genus Anastrepha. This study supports taxonomic recognition of Anastrepha groups of species and species from the genus in the Cundinamarca department (Colombia). Nine collections kept at different universities and research institutions in this department were thus visited. Genitalia were extracted and prepared for microscopy to identify specimens deposited in these collections; micrometric measurements were taken of the ovipositors. The specimens were compared to taxonomic keys and UNAB’s entomological museum reference material. The collections’ respective data was systematised; 14 species were recognised contained in 6 groups of species and one Incertae sedis species: mucronota Group: A. mucronota Stone, A. nunezae Steyskal; grandis Group: A. grandis (Macquart); spatulata Group: A. manihoti Lima; pseudoparallela Group: A. limae Stone, A. pallidipennis Greene; serpentina Group: A. ornata Aldrich, A. serpentina (Wiedemann), A. striata Schiner; fraterculus Group: A. bahiensis Lima, A. distincta Greene, A. fraterculus (Wiedemann), A. obliqua (Macquart); Incertae sedis: A. rheediae Stone. Data was also compiled regarding the geographical location of the genus for 22 municipalities in this study. A. grandis, A. manihoti, A. mucronota, A. limae, A. ornata and A. serpentine were registered for the first time in Cundinamarca

Keywords : Morphology; taxonomy; fruit flies.
