This work was aimed at analysing cotton farm management in the Córdoba department by describing its components and the characteristic of its environment. Knowledge of the crop’s development during the last fifty years and the factors affecting its poor performance as well as that of the cotton farmers as entrepreneurs and their lack of managerial spirit were identified. Remarkable backwardness in using managerial techniques for promoting better cotton farming performance was also noticeable. Their role and behaviour in the search for greater efficiency was also studied. An attempt was made to distinguish the way cotton-farmers could achieve the most efficient farm system by using different factors such as how resources were used, farm size and the main tasks engaged in.
