RODRIGUEZ, Mariela; ARJONA, Harvey E  e  CAMPOS, Héctor A. Physical-chemical characterisation of the growth and development of pineapple guava fruit (Acca sellowiana Berg) clones 41 (Quimba) and 8-4. Agron. colomb. [online]. 2006, vol.24, n.1, pp.54-61. ISSN 0120-9965.

Pineapple guava fruit (Acca sellowiana Berg) clones 41 (Quimba) and 8-4 are cultivated in the Colombian Andean region. However, no studies regarding pineapple guava fruit growth and development are known. Physical changes from anthesis up to physiological maturity were evaluated in this study; biochemical changes were determined during the last stage of development. Clones 41 (Quimba) and 8-4 exhibited a typical sigmoid curve for transverse diameter, longitudinal diameter, fresh weight and dry weight. It was determined that pineapple guava fruit have very low starch content. The most abundant sugars were fructose, sucrose and glucose by HPLC. Other variables such as total soluble solids (TSS), pH and titratable total acidity were also measured.

Palavras-chave : physical changes; compositional changes; starch; total soluble solids; titrable total acidity; sugars.
