Abstract

A phenological model allows predicting the time in that an event occurs during the organism development; the heat accumulated in this process is known as physiological time or growing degree days. This work was undertaken in flower farm in Suesca (Cundinamarca) with the purpose to evaluate the phenological behavior of the reproductive phase of rose varieties ‘Madame Delbard’, ‘Charlotte’, and ‘Freedom’ as responding to the accumulation of degree-days. A monitoring starting from pruning up to phenological phases ‘rice’, ‘chickpea’, ‘showing color’, and ‘harvest’ was done. At the first harvest ‘Madame Delbard’ had a total accumulation of 1085.3 degrees-day, and the harvest peak was at day 86 after pruning and 904.4 degrees-day. The variety ‘Charlotte’ developed first flowers at day 49 and ended production at day 87 after pruning with 906.3 degrees-day accumulated; the harvest peak was at day 69 and 718.5 degrees-day. The variety ‘Freedom’ needed 50 days after pruning to produce its first flowers, the harvest was accentuated at day 80 and 779.9 degrees-day and ended at the day 93 and 892.9 degrees-day. The production curves of the three varieties were described using a quadratic model, definite for the Poisson regression model, except ‘Freedom’ harvest curve that behavied according to a lineal model.
