Abstract

RAMOS, Andrea et al. Evaluation of the different forms of potassium in soils of plantain plantation zone of Córdoba (Colombia). Agron. colomb. [online]. 2006, vol.24, n.2, pp.334-339. ISSN 0120-9965.

Potassium is one of the principal nutrients in cultivation of plantain Musa AAB Simmonds. Therefore, it is important to know the conditions in soils of productive zones of Cordoba in order to provide this nutrient to the plants in short and long terms. The evaluation were made in different sites of Moñitos municipality with the objective to evaluate the K forms in soil and the existent relation among them. The methods used for these determinations were: soluble K (extraction from saturation pasta), exchangeable K (extraction with ammonium acetate), non exchangeable K, interlaminar K (extraction whit HNO3), structural K (difference between total K and other K forms), total K (humid digestion with HF). The result of this study showed high contents of K in soils CM-CA and low ones in soils PM of plantain productive zone, and a good reserve source of K in medium term for soils CM-CA and low one for soils PM. The less available forms (interlaminar and structural K) represented about 90% K in soil principally in the zone CM-CA, where the estimated values were high.

Keywords : chemical extractants; nutrients; plantain.
