Abstract

CABEZAS, Marco  and  SANCHEZ, Carlos A.. Effect of nutrient elements deficiencies on the dry matter partitioning in nursery plants of curuba (Passiflora mollissima Bailey). Agron. colomb. [online]. 2008, vol.26, n.2, pp.197-204. ISSN 0120-9965.

In order to confirm the effect that mineral macronutrient deficiencies have on the dry matter partition in vegetative organs of Passiflora mollissima, an experiment was carried out in nursery conditions by means of the induced deficiency technique of lacking element. It was established that nitrogen and potassium deficiencies lessen in high proportion the leaf area and dry matter, whilst the phosphorus deficiency affect the biomass partitioning pattern. That benefits the major carbohydrates accumulation in root. Generally, the macronutrient deficiencies affect in drastic form the dry matter partitioning to vegetative organs of the plant and produce specific symptoms that should serve as indicator of a nutritional status in field conditions.

Keywords : carbon economy; deficiency symptoms; mineral nutrition.
