CUBILLOS-HINOJOSA, Juan; VALERO, Nelson  e  MEJIA, Lauris.   Trichoderma harzianum as a plant growth promoter in yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa Degener)                         . Agron. colomb. [online]. 2009, vol.27, n.1, pp.81-86. ISSN 0120-9965.

A greenhouse and laboratory experiment was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of a native (TCN-014) and a commercial (TCC-005) T. harzianum strains on passion fruit germination and early growth. Seed germination was evaluated during two weeks under 104, 106 and 108 conidia/mL inoculation treatments of each strain. Calculations of germination percentage, germination rate index, and average germination period were based on measurements of number of germinated seeds. The latter were then grown under greenhouse conditions for two months, after which measurements of plant height, stem basal thickness, number of real leaves, root length and total dry biomass were taken. All treatments proved to stimulate seed germination and plant early growth. However, the 106 and 108 conidia/mL native strain treatments exhibited better results when compared to the commercial strain. The results point at the effectiveness of the native strain of Trichoderma harzianum as a plant growth promoter, and reveal its potential for the creation of a useful bio-product for the ecological management of passion fruit.
