Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, Luis Ernesto; NUSTEZ, Carlos Eduardo  and  ESTRADA, Nelson. Criolla Latina, Criolla Paisa and Criolla Colombia, new cultivars of "diploid potato" for the province of Antioquia (Colombia). Agron. colomb. [online]. 2009, vol.27, n.3, pp.289-303. ISSN 0120-9965.

Nine genotypes of diploid potato ('papa criolla') were evaluated in four environments of the province of Antioquia (Colombia) during two consecutive semesters. The evaluated parameters were: tuber yield potential, aptitude for canning, resistance to Phytophthora infestans and phenotypic stability. The latter was assessed by means of yield stability (YS) analysis. Genotype x environment interaction was calculated through Shukla's variance. In 2005, the results of the research allowed releasing three cultivars for the province of Antioquia, namely 'Criolla Latina' (98-68.5), yielding from 18 to 20 t ha-1, moderately resistant to P. infestans, and adequate for canning and/or pickling; 'Criolla Paisa' (98-70-12), with a 22 to 25 t ha-1 yield, moderate resistance to P. infestans, and adequate aptitude for fresh consumption; and 'Criolla Colombia' (Clon 1), yielding from 13 to 15 t ha-1, sensitive to P. infestans and apt for fresh consumption and preparation of precooked frozen potato.

Keywords : diploid potato; plant breeding; new cultivars.
