Abstract

PACHECO CH., César A.; VERGARA H., María C.  and  LIGARRETO M., Gustavo A.. Classification of 85 pea accessions (Pisum sativum L.), according to their agronomic behavior and morphological characters. Agron. colomb. [online]. 2009, vol.27, n.3, pp.323-332. ISSN 0120-9965.

Out of a set of 85 pea accessions, the present research study was intended to identify parental materials carrying discriminant population variables. The work was carried out under greenhouse conditions in the Bogota Plateau, during two crop cycles. The first one evaluated morphological and agronomical variables such as yield components, precocity, height, growth habit, number of branches, leaf type, size, pod curvature type and degree, peduncle size, number of pods per cluster, flower color and grain morphological characteristics. The second cycle evaluated resistance to "ascochyta blight", caused by Ascochyta spp. and Mycosphaerella spp. Factorial Analysis of Mixed Data (FAMD) not only allowed grouping the 85 accessions into three clusters of qualitative-quantitative variation, but also selecting genotypes 116, 134, 225 and 236 as parental materials of breeding interest with regards to yield, grain quality and branching features; genotypes B-036 and B-039 as dwarf and precocious materials; and only those of class 3 as "ascochyta" resistant materials.

Keywords : genetic variability; plant breeding; mixed data; legumes.
