According to international micro and macro economical indicators, and in order to improve the competitiveness of Colombian SMEs, this paper explores the main factors affecting this parameter, as well as the difficulties faced by these companies. It is inquired if it is possible to identify the factors that currently affect these enterprises, as well as their future challenges, to finally propose integration between firms as a development alternative
