Abstract

PEREZ, Samuel. The strategic value of rural tourism as a sustainable alternative for a territorial rural development. Agron. colomb. [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.3, pp.493-499. ISSN 0120-9965.

This principles exalt the tourism as an activity of territorial character, which is related directly with the people, their social and cultural organization, their inner institutional and environmental links. One of the principal characteristics of the new rural territories is its heterogeneity on increase boosted by the diversifying in society demands for the country, and it is expressed on multi-functionality, this term increases the traditional productive vision of the agrarian sector, and entails the revalue of territories from new productive perspectives. Tourism is a collective-social practice which is outlined like one of the main suppliers of economic activities in rural areas, that also involves excluded sectors of the labor market (youngsters, women and the elderly). In consequence, the rural tourism constitutes an alternative for diversifying rural community incomes and a strategic axis for the rural territory development. Nevertheless, it is necessary to bear in mind the restrictions that the activity has, as not every territory has tourist vocation.

Keywords : rural multifunctionality; not agriculturalists rural income (IRNA); new ruralty; territory, rural development with territorial approach (DRET).
