RUEDA GARCIA, Paola Andrea. Towards a comprehensive approach to health care in Colombia. Medicas UIS [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.2, pp.183-186. ISSN 0121-0319. https://doi.org/10.18273/revmed.v29n2-2016016.
Advances in medicine over the last two centuries have brought major benefits to the world's population, but also some difficulties. Family medicine is a response to the dissatisfaction expressed by patients to the fragmentation of the human being, providing a comprehensive and continuous care, focusing on the person and their environment. In Colombia, family physicians are also facing new challenges under the new health legislation, in force since January 2011 and which is expected to bring significant changes to the health situation of the country.
